Access to Syllabus @ Yale

The Syllabus @ Yale tool requires the use of an active Yale NetID account to login, search, and view syllabus items. Only Yale faculty, student, and staff NetIDs are able to access Syllabus @ Yale. No local guest accounts or Sponsored Identity accounts will be created to provide access at this time.

Opt-Out Option

Instructors have the option to prevent their syllabi from being discoverable and accessible on the Syllabus @ Yale tool at any time by submitting a Hide Syllabus Request form. Additionally, faculty can control the  visibility of their course syllabus in the Syllabus @ Yale tool by following our instructions for how to configure their Canvas course prior to our yearly collection of syllabi. 

Acceptable Use Policy

By using the Syllabus @ Yale tool, you are agreeing to comply with the following acceptable use policy:

  • If you are a student, you may use the Syllabus @ Yale tool solely for your personal educational and research purposes.
     
  • If you are an instructor or staff member, you may use the Syllabus @ Yale tool solely in connection with your teaching and administration of Yale courses and for your Yale research.
     

You may download a small number of syllabi from the Syllabus @ Yale tool for your own use in accordance with the foregoing. You may not post, transfer, distribute, or otherwise share syllabi, and may not provide others access to the tool through your credentials. You may not make any commercial use of the Syllabus @ Yale tool or syllabi contained within.  

If you use ideas, information or text from any of the syllabi in your work, you should follow the same standards of attribution you would for any other scholarly works authored by Yale faculty. If you wish to use a syllabus in a way that goes beyond what is permitted under this Policy, you should contact the author or other rights holder.

You may not conduct any systematic or automated data collection activities, including scraping, data mining, data extraction, and data harvesting, on or in relation to the tool, and may not download or collect a substantial number of syllabi by any means or for any purpose.  

You may not use the Syllabus @ Yale tool or syllabi in any way that causes, or may cause, damage to the tool or impairment of the availability or accessibility of the tool; or in any way that is unlawful, illegal, fraudulent or harmful; or in connection with any unlawful, illegal, fraudulent or harmful purpose or activity.

Privacy Policy

Information identifying those who opted-out of making their syllabi available will not be publicized on the Syllabus @ Yale tool. Syllabus @ Yale will not be used to generate reports on who has decided to opt-out. Additionally, analytics generated from the application, such as syllabus availability, common search terms, and the number of downloads may be analyzed for system improvements and optimization. Syllabi used for tenure and promotion decisions are obtained through other channels, not through Syllabus @ Yale.
